Anyone remember when this was in the charts first time around? The Chart Show producer on Radio 1 accidentally played the unedited version in full on the countdown. That is about 26 F***s and 1 M****r F****r at 6.45pm. He got sacked. We sent him a leaving present from Sony.

And I'm off to see Depeche Mode tonight - now there's a proper band, the best thing to come out of Basildon.

Ahahahahhaahah. Wait are you serious?!

The music industry isn't dwindling in the slightest, 'cept maybe if you count the gigantic dearth of tallent in the charts. The best thing for music would be the death of the music industry. Then we'd just have the choice to buy music that you know, was actually good, rather than the crap that souless corporate bohemoths decided they could sell the most of.

Yup it was November 1992 and the DJ was Bruno Brookes . He didn`t actually get sacked from the BBC until 1995 .

My guess is non or not many. Just a thought.
Im not so sure, granted he wasn't a big writer but he did have a part. Thing is he wasnt shot to fame simply by winning a song contest, though he did win a song contest, still It took him a few years of trying and getting a leg up from a popular band. Was he gifted it? Certainly not id say. Then there was a lull in his career, one that he came back from. If Joe were to have a number one for this Christmas, and then have the album sink, would he come back?

Then there is the argument of which was/is the better singer, Joe or Frank. Do we need to answer that?

I know it might seem like im picking fault... and perhaps I am. But the people that love X factor seem to have very short attention spans and seem very eager to move on. Not that I can blame them with what X factor produces

*Helps Mr Squiz down off his soap box* We do have choice to buy the music we want. Music sales overall are far less than they were when i was buying music by the bucket load. Back in the old days *Goes all wobbly nostalgic* a #1 single had to sell in excess of a million copies, and for platinum albums, it was something like 500k. Now we're lucky if its 100k for a #1 single and its 50k for a platinum album. So with that in mind, this is why i say its dwindling. I know that the huge corporate machines are doing thier level best to force the likes of the latest christmas album upon us and they will never stop. But nowadays we have far more sources for music, like MySpace music, You tube and the other mirad of video sites, so we do have choice 100%.

According to the BPI, music isn't dwindling, pre-recorded music sold by the middle men is dwindling...

http://labs.timesonline.co.uk/blog/2...-file-sharing/

The same thing is being reported in Sweden:

http://www.danieljohansson.se/post/T...hs-Report.aspx

Ignoring the file-sharing issue that inevitably gets tagged to any discussion of the recording industry it's pretty clear consumers aren't interested in pre-packaged albums, they want to see artists perform and be entertained, which is great for the artists as they get more money, great for the consumers because they get more than yet another cookie cutter CD but not so great for the middle men who aren't as easily able to milk both for profit anymore...

How can you generalise like that? thats so narrow minded!!! I like watching X factor - but that doesn't make me thick I'm halfway through a degree (distinction on one honours level course) perhaps one could say that people posting on an internet forum for hours and hours each day are a bit strange and need to get a life

+1

however, from some of the undergrads I've had to teach how to suck eggs this past term, studying for a degree dosn't entitle one for brainy status either

(i'm far from it tbh)
