There was a single chevron on the posts on the sweep, hence my speed not be decreased anymore...
Well the police did say they get a lot of calls to this location, so it is a bit of a nasty one. No I wasn't cautioned...although had to take the mandatory breathliser test - and was given the tube as a souvenir. |

Try writing to someone who might do something get that streatch improved. I wouldn't have thought anything of taking a slip road at 60, they're fast roads.

With all due respect Dave I've never heard such a load of tosh. Ride the view that you have, and don't even try for one moment to try and blame someone else if you can't. It's that kind of namby pamby it's not my fault kind of culture that gives legislators the excuse they need to dumb us all down to your level. A slip road is a bend, not only that it is a well advertised bend with nothing coming the other way. At least the OP is having the decency to admit they made a mistake and isn't trying to cop out. It's part of life, face it and live a little.

They seem to have managed to afford lots of 'biker's you're doomed signed on tame corners round these parts, why not just put up one 'tight bend' or advisory speed sign there?

OK fair enough maybe my rant was a bit harsh, but I'm not sure a sign would make a lot of difference. If you saw a sign saying "Max speed 30mph" would you stick to it, or ask yourself if that is meant for a double decker bus with a top floor full of American tourists in the wet? Slip roads are like any other road and if the rider can't stop in the distance they can see to be clear then on their head be it.

Always observed that really tight corners have fewer chevrons anyway. Why? cos there's less visible space to put them, I suppose. Or...
An alternative theory presented, was that someone stole most of the chevrons on the really tight corners but had nowhere to hide them, but eventually figured out that he could inconspicuously sneak them into the wider corners and no-one would notice. ![]()

Sorry to hear about your off, glad to hear you're mainly OK, it could have been a lot nastier.
http://maps.google.co.uk/?ie=UTF8&ll...09656&t=h&z=17 Which bit of the bend did you come off at? It's a fairly interesting slip road, that tightens up as you go round. |

Ok...bike is being picked up today from the recovery garage, so should be able to upload photos for all to see damage.
Should be here later afternoon. |
