Default Hel Brake Line Length

Hi,

I received some brake lines this morning which I bought from a forum member, and I just wanted to check something:- I tried the lines on the bike, just holding them in situ, and all look too long. I was wondering if anyone on here had some HEL lines (or others) and wouldn't mind measuring them so I could compare. Mine are for a K3 S, 2 line front, and 1 rear. The lengths I have just measured are:

F - 78cm
F - 80.5cm
R- 43 cm

The rear looks like about an inch to long, and the fronts 2 inches or so.

The HEL box which they came in show that they are for "SV650S K3" - which should be right for my bike.

Also, does anyone know the pitch for the bolts - I have heard stories of the wrong pitch bolts being sent. I have measured them, and they seem to be approx 1mm between each thread (not that I know if that is the right way to measure them!) I don't want to start stripping the bike until I know I have all the correct parts I need.

Just to make it clear, if these lines are the wrong length, I am in no way blaming the forum member who sold them to me - I am more than happy with the condition of these parts, and they are as were described.

Would appreciate any help.

Thanks,

BB.

pitch of the bolts is ok - just fitted the rear.

I'll post some pics tomorrow to see what you guys think before I tackle the fronts.

I've just fitted a set of fronts so I'll go and measure them for you. Dont forget to allow for the forks extending though.

Hadn't thought of that - but I was just measuring them against the originals on there.

Thanks for the offer of measuring them - I'll be interested to see how long they are...

I just fitted a set of Hel front brake lines to my bike. They do seem quite long, but not overly so. Rather that than have them too short.

Right, I dont have an HEL rear but the fronts are;

Front right - 76cm
Front left - 77.5cm

Measurements are from the center of each banjo.

Thanks Flymo - I measured mine tip to tip so to speak, so prob another cm or 2 to be added on - seems like mine aren't a million miles away...

I'll have a go fitting them tomorrow - thanks for the info, at least I know they are near enough - a cm or 2 shouldnt make much difference?

nah, sounds like they are the correct length, you can tidy things up a bit by cable tying the lines together where they meet just above the front mudguard, that will likely take up another cm or so
