Hello all,
Well my bike is rapidly approaching the 10k mile mark (3k miles by me). The bike has a full service history but i have no idea what was done in these services or how thorough they were! As my bike still has its really annoying clicking noise (http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.p...hlight=ticking) and i have made a few modification I was considering have the following done ... Balancing the Carbs Checking valve clearances Checking the fuelling (Dyno Run) Possible Yoshi remap if necissary Oil Change Cam chain check (to get rid of the ticking) New Plugs (whats best???) Chain and sprocket check The bike is a K6 now running a BMC road filter with raised tank and SV1000 snorkel. A CCC can with baffle removed (hence checking the fuelling) What am i missing - what is overkill? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cheers Orgers !! |

It doesnt have carbs
Valve check every 15000 miles Oil change (and filter) Yes Plugs? Maybe but they last well in the SV. Chain and sprocket check Yes.Should be a weekly thing anyway. Id add a check and clean up of the brake calipers And a general check around for loose nuts and bolts, and a lube and adjust of all the cables.

K6 camchains and tensioners aren't a weak spot

Put a loud can on it
![]() I'd get another SV-er to have a listen to it. Is it mechanical paranoia or a real problem?

ticking is normal for the sv, the cogs on the cam chain tensioners allow for quite a bit of slack before they snug up a notch, noise comes and goes
wear earplugs throttle bodies just like carbs should be balanced every 7500 miles 10k is not a routine service interval for the SV |
