I discovered this today when i was giving my bike a going over, it looks like the exhaust is melting it?

I'v got fairings on the curvy but I'v had no problems and they are right next to the exhaust. |

That ain't heat, its whatevers coming out of that breather pipe behind it by the looks of it.

Cheers
What the hell comes out of the breather pipe to do that??? I have still been riding with it on but i am a little bit worried about the lower falling off. Anyone know if the crack can be repaired, dont fancy having to buy a new fairing. |

as said that is not heat damage on ordinary plastic, and the breather pipe is connected to the fuel cap overflow. i would guess at some point a fluid has made contact with the plastic and the heat from the exhaust has resulted in the above damage.
i really doubt it is brake fluid, for a start it is no where near the reservoir. taking a closer look at the exhaust you can see small brown burnt marks where something has dripped on to it. ps. the fairing is cracked because the screw is too tight. |

you could repair the fairing with some fibre glass from behind and it shouldn't be visible from the front if you are careful, can use a touch up paint to hide the crack in the paint.

yeah just get a fibreglass kit then, comes in handy for anything plastic that needs fixing, sets as hard as a rock as well so you know it wont break after all planes are made from it now!
