Dave, sag is easy to set up, thats where to start! Instead of jacking up the back, or as well as you can raise the forks through the clamps.
![]() As for dampening. Return to factory settings and see how it feels. If your happy with the handling leave, if not have a play around with the dampening till it does. There is only you who can get it right for yourself. ![]() Last edited by ThEGr33k; 09-05-09 at 12:05 PM. |

Factory settings? Woot? Suspension from a totally different bike, what are factory settings!
Dave, go on racetech site or google, try and find length and spring rate for that K8 shock. It may or may not be suitable for the curvy.

You have to have them set somewhere to start with, so why not factory settings? Sure it might be completely mismatched but at least you know how many clicks / turns of adjustment you are set to.

Well im presuming the GSX-R that they come off had standard settings... The weight is pretty similar on the two.

Fair one, I started with all the adjusters in the middle. Anyway important thing is you record what settings make it feel like what so you can get to decent point.

Roughly a 526 lbf/in. So, not bad if a little soft. How much do you weigh Dave? Try and find the shock length from somewhere, you want something longer than stock but not too much.

OK after a lot of google-fu, found an old post from bluesv650s, the length of an ohlins shock set to max height is 349mm. So I would take that as the best length to use.
Find out, because a shorter than standard shock will turn it into a lowrider and it'll handle like some POS cruiser. For rate, it should be OK.
