Default CD Technical question

So, here's the deal. I have a CD/DVD compatible Digital TV in the kitchen - fairly new flat screen with HDMI hook up etc etc.

I can play music CD's on it.

I have put 63 tracks onto a CD from my PC (a mixture of MP3's and MP4 files). I can see that all the tracks are on there when I look at the structure on my PC.

The CD plays in the TV...BUT...

...for some reason the TV only sees 28 tracks. I have tried entering the track number to try to locate the higher numbered track but no joy. This is also the same when I try the CD in my DVD player.

Any ideas why this is happening?

Is there 28 mp3's and 35 mp4's by any chance?

At a guess, it's a limitation on the TV/DVD player.

Which tracks can they see? Is it a combination of MP3 & MP4 files? Or only MP3? Only MP4? That would point to a possible codec issue.

Is the disc encoded as one track with all files in it, or is it all seperate tracks for each file?

Aha....just looked. That'll be why then. The TV doesn't see the MP4's....

Seperate tracks for each file I guess as I can see each individual file.

It does look like a file compatibility issue.

Well done.

Is it possible to change the format to MP3 from 4? I think I know the answer to this but somebody has to be brave enough to ask the daft questions.

MP4 being video files, yes, but you'll loose the video element & be reduced to Audio alone.

There's loads of software that will do that. Google MP4 MP3 transcoding.

Or you could change the mp4's into a dvd couldn't you? Not that I know how to make dvd's. I've been trying to make dvd's for years but have decided it is impossible
