For me, it's between Jnc 4 & 5 of M58, there must be a biscuit factory or something nearby, 'cos there's a stretch of M-way that smells lurverly when you ride through it.
Then at the end of the 58, there's some good roundabouts and bends for flicking the bike about before you hit the M6. What bits do you enjoy about your daily commute (or regular ride out)? |

having recently stopped commuting into central london i gotta say its the fact that drivers outside of london see me and actively move out the way to allow me to filter.
But when i did go into the smoke the best bit was getting there in once piece, lol, and the initial buzz of the adrenalin wearing off as you get off the bike! Oh and there used to be this chick on a monster 900 who i'd see sometimes on the commute who had the nicest bum and was always in jeans....yummy!

There's a wiggle about halfway through my commute, a slight left then right, if you get it right, woo hoo! You don't fall down the stairs

Slip road off the A34, you can get your knee down and it signifies the end of the A34!
*disclaimer: "you" can get your knee down; "I" can't ![]() |

I always look forward to going up the beginning of hangar lane, up the hill and over the crest, heading south. Its a fast sweeper (when thre is no traffic). Up to second off the lights, get through the gatso, then nail it up the hill holding third, using some muscle to get the bike round. There is also a great corner on the kingston one-way system, where I leave the one way system. Its slightly cambered in my favour, but essentially flat. Constant radius, smooth surface, lots of grip - I can really crank it over there and is one of my favorite corners
On my way home, I love coming round the kingston one-way system. Out of college roundabout and around the first right hander - care taken here because the road has crumbled into holes arund the man-hole cover. Bit of throttle, then its a sharp left, bit tigher than you first think. Keeping over to the right side and gently leaning over to the left, hoping the traffic is clear and the lights are green. If they are, dont brake! go go go! down to second and throw it into the right turn by wilkinsons then back on the throttle, let the bike pick itself up and lean over to the left past the oceana nightclub. Pray lights are green. If they are, getting into third (i dont use alot of the revs avaliable btw) and lean harder to the left. Keep right to go down hill - this is the big test of confidence on the front end!!!! Pray for green lights - if they are, come off the throttle, onto the brakes a little and back into second with a nice big blip of the throttle. Throw the bike in, lots of countersteer and faith in the front end, everything goes vauge because you're heading downhill, cranked over on the right. Hit the bottom of the hill, still hold second but up to 7000 rpm now, back over on the right hand side feeeeling the grip now as we go uphill, keeping well over to the left. Up into third and go for the next tight tight left hander. Care because ther are some sunken man-hole covers. Back on the brakes, down to second, throw it in late and gas it out. Slow for the lights. Giggle because you just had fun on a set of corners in london ![]() When i ride home down the A24, there are some real great corners. My favorite one is near to the roundabout where you turn right to join the dual carrigeway part of the A24. You approcah it downhill, in third. It then goes uphill and you lean it over on the elft hand side, loads and loads of grip, feeding power the way through in third, over the crest and bomb back down the hill on the other side. I love that corner ![]() Last edited by Alpinestarhero; 19-11-09 at 04:58 PM. |

+1. When I get onto the Forest Road towards Epping, it's noticeable how many cars move over to let me nip past - I always make a point of giving them a wave for their thoughtfulness too |
