Wot kinda person keeps the tool kit for a bike when they sell it???
Can anyone tell me what tools are meant to be in the kit under the seat.. doesn't say in the manual . forgot to say (if it matters) 1999 650s. ![]() |

Loads of stuff ...... have a look on ebay, search on here, or google for a photo ...
Maybe they took it out and forget to put it back, or they took it out, and it got mixed up over the years with their other tools ..... Did the curvies get one as standard ?? Or was it an extra cost ?? |

I don't think it is really a case of keep it when they sell the bike, more likely throw the useless lump of carp away when they first see it and realise you are not going to do much with that.
The only usefull item is the C spanner for adjusting the preload on the rear shock. better off investing in a decent philips / flat blade screw driver, and allen keys, a decent set of pliers, and an adjustable spanner. Put a bit of wire, some insulating tape, a couple of cable ties under the seat and sign up with a reputable recovery firm

Thanks, thats what I thought, I was more concerned about the C spanner for the shock that you mentioned and I believe there is meant to be a long spark plug spanner with a pivot. I suppose my best bet is ebay for these original bits or maybe I can get something from halfords that will do the job. Sorry if I upset anyone out there that keeps hold of these old tools..

I think the tool kit is pretty handy ..... everything you need for that quick fix ...... tucked away, left on the bike, a leave and forget piece of useful kit ...

Mine is there just in case but having looked at the quality of the things included I'd be better off waiting for the RAC. I tried using the spanner that came with my GS500's kit many moons ago - it did not fit properly and then promptly snapped. Chances are the previous owner binned it and used the space for something more useful.

*wind up mode*
Some people are never happy ......... you don't fit a tool kit, they think you're tight, and 'its not right' ..... You fit a cheap tool kit, that is fine for anyone to use as an emergency kit, so long as they aren't too heavy handed ..... and they moan its not strong enough .... You fit a nice tool kit, but put the price of the bike up to pay for it....... people moan that they don't want a kit and they'd never use it !!! Hells bells ....... you can't please anyone these days!! LOL... |

I carry a multitool and a mobile phone, if I break down (make that when on my rusty trusty cg125!) and I cant do a quick fix, then I phone the wife and she comes and gets me with the trailer.
Me tool init! ![]()
