Gmail and Android - HELP!!!

Right, had my Desire for a while now. When I originally set it up, I didn't have a Google Mail account so I created one on the phone but it won't let me open the account when on the laptop.

I created another one the other day and it works fine and I have linked it to the phone - BUT I can't get rid of the old account so I can't send my calendar dates and contacts to the new account. Anyone know how to do this??? Tried everything I can think of!

in the accounts menu, it probably lists, gmail, hotmail facebook etc, if you press and hold the account you want to delete it will bring up a sub menu under which you can delete it?

oh.. hold on, urs is android ins't it.. that might not work ..

Should be under: Menu > Settings > Accounts & Sync > [google account] > Remove account

It won't allow me to remove the account as it is the one linked to my phone

1. select menu -> settings -> applications -> manage applications

2. scroll down and click "Google Apps"

3. click the "Clear data" button (you will receive a warning, click OK)

4. go back to home screen

5. pull down the notification menu and click on the message "Your account must be updated"

6. follow the onscreen instruction until you get to where it asks you to "create" or "sign in", click "sign in" and enter YOUR new Google account info.

It's not working!!! I am getting fed up with this now...
