Hi Peeps,
Once again I need the help of the Guru's here. I bought a pair of Alpinestars SMX+ boots at the NEC bike show for a good price. they fit properly in the foot but is a royal pain in the Ar*e after half way and am scared of ripping the zip off. Was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and if there is a easy way to resolve it as I don't really want to be selling them straight away after not long buying them. Would a normal leather softener help at all?????? Thanks J |

unfortunately most of the top part is protective plastic, the only expansion is the elasticated bit on the inside, which isn't that deep.
Can't really think of a easy way to make them wider, I guess you could get a fillet put in alongside the zip?, I did have the same issue with mine in the past, but resolved it by removing the shin armour from my leathers. Cheers Mark.

My brother is having the same issue issue with trying to get the zips up far enough to velcro them to the boot inside. He too wears them over his leathers. They squeak like a b-astard though and the longer he wears them the louder they get. It's quite annoying. They look great but i couldn't be a-rsed with the constant squealing
I have no such issues with my Sidi boots, no squeaking and no zip issues and they are almost 4 years old. The are getting on a bit and the sole is wearing a bit thin in areas. Am looking to try some TCX R-S2 ones next

I have the same boots and monster calf's to boot, when i first had them they were almost impossible to get on, I've found that taking the pressure of your foot helps the zip up and also wearing my (textile) trousers over the boot. but the next pair i buy will be the smx short boots.

When oiling your chain, put some on the hinge points on the boots.
I do it to mine, and they don't squeak for about a week. |

I've got the same sort of issue with the zips on mine too, although pulling the sides together and giving it a hard pull seems to work.. And the zip seems strong enough to take it.
