Default is turning a front tyre unthinkable.

As above, I have an sc2 supercorsa front that's chewed on right side. I have a test day at 3 sisters next week where it was chewed up originally other week. I have a tidy scrub to go on but want to save till race on Sunday as its so abrasive. Does anyone do it or is it stupid to even think it. I turn rear supercorsas regular with out trouble, I just keep it in back of my mind when cranked over.

if they have a 'direction of travel' arrow then no, they shouldnt be put on backwards.

You may well get away with it though, not something I would take the chance on.

You can turn slicks round, but I've never heard of it being done with treaded tyres... As flymo says - if there's a direction of travel arrow - be wary. Suppose it might depend on the weather - if the tread isn't dispersing water properly or something

Is direction of travel not mainly for the tire to clear water correctly using the tread? Other then that i couldn't see a reason why it couldn't be turned around?

All supercaorsa can be turned but only for practice days, they won't allow it in the race. The way to tell is look inside the tyre and see how the moulding is done, if it's at 90 degrees to tyre wall it's ok, if it points then no.

All supercorsas are directional. The banding inside front and rear is kind of on a slight spiral. Not quite 45degree but not far off.

I think the issue oi twofold. First, the tread pattern is designed to work in one particular direction. Obviously this will be most noticeable in the wet but could also affect grip in the dry.

The second important issue is the tread splicing direction, when fitted the correct way the forces acting on the tyre should not stress the join where the tread rubber was spliced together. When fitted incorrectly there is a chance that this join could fail or cause deflation.
