Default Converting from 'S' to naked?

Hi Y'all,

I've had my 2005 Pointy S from new and I'm starting to feel like I need a bit of a change but...

...When I think about what I want it's really just my bike with a little more power and better suspension!

I'm also thinking of losing the fairing and fitting the headlight assembly from a non-s SV. I'll keep the clip-ons and maybe go a bit lower. I'm thinking a modern take on the old Cafe Racer theme.

Has anyone on the forum tried taking of the fairing and fitting a non-s headlight? I would guess that the modular nature of the SV would make this fairly easy or am I deluded?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi and welcome Mark, have a read through Tamsv thread here http://forums.sv650.org/showthread.php?t=153421 as he built an awesome cafe sv. It was a curvy but it might give you a few ideas. HTH

Wow! That's awesome.

That's the kind of look I want but I'll be retaining the rear seat. Mine will be a much less radical blowover.

Thanks,

Mark

Mister C on here has a good knack for turning out some interesting machines too, so you may want to look up some of his threads too.

Thanks Geodude,

Looking through some old threads it seems that I would be better off getting a naked SV as a project rather than trying to convert my faired pointy. I'm a bit peeved as I was offered a naked curvy a while back for not much money... And I turned it down because I was working on the damn house!

Ha ha ha, Mechtard! I love it, I love you too though Geo, you bring your sharp wit and keen mind to the forum, so all is forgiven.

No, not just you. That Cafe Racer SV looked like it should be strawberry flavored and probably had drool all over it. Not being a lover of the curvy fairing, I can honestly say that Tam's bike was one of the most glorious curvys ever shown on here.

Mind you, I did also like the Curvy with a pointy fairing on it... Yes, go on you lot, hate me for that heresy!

You're all too kind. If I'm home the garage door is always open and you can lick anything you like.

Some inspiration for the OP - there's a Cafe'd pointy or two in the SVRider SVOTM archives and you'll find build threads for a few of them.
