Default Curvy running poorly.

hi again
im begining to hate my sv . went to start my sv 650s up after work started fine on choke , turned choke of , ideling fine , went to take of , cut out , started it again ticks over fine , but soon as i tryed to rev it , it cut out at 3000rpm put on choke cut stright out again , just would not take any revs , undid carb bowl screws , let it drain , still no good , left it harf hour , started again , didnt like if first few times , then it built up its revs and , was fine , drove home , very spluttery for a few miles in all gears , then seemed fine , bike ran ok , so do you think i should get the carbs of and give them a real good clean , i have a good carb cleaner , but dont have any air compresor , what should i get to blow out jets ect if you think it needs a good clean out ,
thanks so much for any help , dont want to give up on my sv yet , cost heaps for all the new bits iv had to replace on it . i have replaced the plugs a month ago , its an sv650s 1999 , thanks again

Sounds pretty similar to the issues I had with mine. I took the carbs apart and found a load of gunge in the float bowls and you might as well give the jets etc a good clean while they're apart. I cleaned mine with carb cleaner and some wooden cocktail sticks!

All of the above and check for water in the fuel.It collects at the bottom of the tank, and in the float bowls.

All of the above
DD didn't you have mould growing on the jets?

Drain the tank and have a look what in there. I've got a 5l jerry can of fuel thats about 25% water

If you need to take the carbs off, put some newspaper into the inlet rubbers on the motor.

I don't think you need to go that far yet. Drain the tank and get some fresh fuel in there. Also prime the carbs by sucking on the vac pipe on the fuel tap
