My rear brake lever doesnt return when i press it down which make the pads stick on the disc, i have to manually lift the lever up to release it. I thought it may be to do with the springs so looked on the forum and came across some people not having a return spring where the holes are for one. I seem to have one on my 2005 SV650s, is this correct or has someone put one in? What else would cause the lever not to return?

Grease the pivot point on the lever.

Best bet is to take the lever off, clean the spindle, and clean the bush in the lever, then grease and refit.

I had a similar problem and I fixed it by changing the brake liquid. Check when was the last time someone changed the breaking liquid because your system might be filled with gunk

It was probably about 5 years ago to be honest when the fluid was last changed so probably best renewing the fluid, i havent done the rear fluid since then just as i dont use the back brake much but ill change it out tomorrow first to see if that helps if not ill clean the pivot point of the lever

Just bled the rear brake and its perfect now, the brake lever springs back and the rear wheel is free aswell so just needed a fluid change, didnt realise how much brake fluid can affect it like that but im still going to clean and grease up the pivot point of the brake lever.
