It really annoys me that bikers are given almost no consideration when it comes to insuring a car. Im 22 and am looking at my first car, the insurance is ridiculous! Just for a joke I got a quote for a fiat panda 750cc and it came back as £1300 tft! When my SV was £510!
Surely riding something with 2 wheels that will accelerate as fast as a ferrari should give you some kind of discount! I think that is a complete ****take. I cant even sit in a slow car these days, I feel like its not even moving! I need something with a bit of grunt but unfortunately 'the computer says nooo' ![]() |

I do wonder that.. I've been riding for 9 years and yet if I pass next week and try to insure the car it will be 1400 quid. Even though I've got more road knowledge then most of the people out there??? Or is it I'm just filling the forms in wrong.

Mate... keep searching... you'll get a better deal. The quote you're refering to is basically the insurance company's way of refusing you insurance. However, because the market is so heavily regulated and common terms agreed, they can't actually refuse you insurance without a good reason - like you're epileptic or something... so they just quite you the stupidest rate they can think of.
I've just reinsured my car after a year off the road... and got good quotes from Admiral, and Elephant. H&R might have been good, but don't seem to offer an online quoting service, and one that Coombest recommended to me told me I was a criminal and wouldn't quote me. ![]() I'm not a criminal by the way! ![]()

What I'm ideally looking for is a joint bike-car policy.... does anyone do this?

The system is a mockery.
You can't use a bike's NCD on your car or visa-versa, but if you claim on one policy the NCD on the other will be affected. ![]() I wish some had the "jacobs" and the money to challenge this in Court. |

I got really wound up when I insured a car last year. They said I could use the no claims bonus from my bike, but I wouldn't then be able to use it for insuring the bike!!!! As though if I used it for a car I'd suddenly 'forget' how to ride!

To not be able to use it on the bike at the same time is normal, you can't have two cars using the same NCD. |
