Hi All,
I’m well impressed with the way the font forks come up after a bit of effort. I’ve always thought it the one part of the bike that lets the rest down..... so I’ve decided to have a go myself ![]() Now for cleaning purposes Ive tried to remove this in the past but have noticed a really annoying little clip on the very top of the fender that supports a cable that goes down to the front wheel hub. Initially I thought it was a press stud type clip and tried to prise the two halves apart. Try as I might I cant seem to get it undone without using excessive force and risk breaking it or damaging the fender. ![]() Finally - is wetndry, scotchbrite, T cut, and metal polish the best way to go ? PS Ive heard of scotchbrite - but what is it ![]() |

Yes, it is just a matter of prising the two bit apart. I use a car trim remover that i use when fitting car stereos etc.
Scotchbrite is like scouring pad. You can get it at most diy places. Get the fine finishing one, red in colour, not the green one, sod it, get the green one as well. Its a little more abrasive. If you are doing it with the forks in the bike, then put the axle back in. This will stop the fork lowers turning. 800 grit wet n dry was good as well. |

Ive got carbon fibre sheeting over my front forks. It protects the forks during the winter and looks ace too. I put in on 6month ago and its still stuck strong and the forks are brand new underneath.
Just thought id share that with you. |

Kev,
I jsut painted my forks with 4 coats of smooth Hammerite (Silver). All the work is in the prepping. Started with 80 grit, then down to 240. Finish is excellent and should be hardwaring. |
