Alrighty then. I've started to take my bike apart, it's currently in bits on my garage floor
![]() ![]() I'm having trouble taking off the pipes (to clean). I've slipped off the Scorpion no problem, but the rest of it appears to be a little more challenging. Those that have polished their pipes, did you take them off the bike to do this? I can't get a ratchet/spanner near the bloody thing, there's just no room to manoeuvre (I'm talking about the section that runs into the engine near the sub-frame.... check me out with my technical terms ![]() I've bought my polishing bits to attach to my drill, I have Autosol ready and waiting! I'm wondering if I should just take off the main pipe, as that seems to be attached with a jubilee clip to the other section. But I'd like to polish the lot if I can ![]() I know it's just going to tarnish immediately, but it'll look good to sell! I hope! So, people who have polished pipes ![]() |

I put the bike on the Abba stand and laid underneath!
If you do try and take the pipes off, just make sure you don't shear the bolts trying to undo them!

I kept the downpipe on as those bolts are pretty much seized solid. It's a little tricky to get access but not impossible.
Good luck with it. It's the labour of love, I tell ya... j |

I wondered if a lack of paddock stand my hinder me somewhere. I may just have to leave them on and see what work I can do as it is.
Thanks chaps. |

I contemplated saving my money and not using a paddock stand but I can safely say that I would have got nowhere without it (them - I got front & rear).
A proper stand would have been more ideal but more dinari, of course. I think you can polish a downpipe without a stand, though. J |

I will have to do without a stand, I'm not about to go and buy one when I'm selling the bike in the very near future.
I'll post before and after pics when I'm done.... providing it turns out alright ![]() ![]() |

Unless you really want to get the whole thing off, you can just undo the bolt that's about 3 inches along the pipe from the engine block- dead easy to get at. Then the whole thing is easy to remove and refit. Well, slightly harder to refit... You might need a new gasket in there, I forget.
