Default Riding in hot weather

Normally I won't ride anywhere unless I'm wearing my armoured trousers and jacket.

However I have to confess that today I rode in just jeans and T-shirt and a jumper . It was just too hot for my gear. I did only ride 23 miles (to check a place out that I've got a job interview at tomorrow) and I didn't push the bike at all, I rode very casually like a "cruiser" - it was actually quite pleasant!

Anyway, I'm interested in the results of my little poll as I'd like to see what the general consenssus is on this. I've noticed when it's very warm or hot that there are fewer bikes out and I always think this is because a lot of riders won't go out without their proper gear.

Today I saw a mixture of riders in proper gear and riders in jeans + T-shirt/jumper (about 50/50).

my gear is quite cool with the inner linings zipped out. So i always wear it - even on the 8 mile run to work

If you're too hot in proper gear then you're not riding fast enough!

Proper gear, It aint worth it... rather be hot and sweaty than be gravel rashed or lacking a few layers of skin

My alpinestars jacket is like wearing a t-shirt as its vented and nice and cool as long as I keep moving

I try to take advantage of the zips, undo the neck fastener thingy

Leave the wrist fasteners out aswell, opening your fly hels too, make sure you remember to do it back up tho

I can't stand being as hot as the gear makes me in hot weather, and won't ride without it. So at the moment, I wait for it to cool down again.

That annoys me though so I'll be looking for something with similar protection but not so bloody hot as leathers.

I used to laugh at my colleagues in Texas for saying that they did not ride in the summer, until this weekend.

I have ridden in T shirt, i have ridden in jeans, i have been known to ride in trainers, However, i have never riden in shorts, or with out gloves.

Today i have been out in leather trousers, and a HG Air jacket (PErforated all over, highly recomneded) MotoX gloves and my balck Rains.

I wish that i had ridden in jeans today though

To go back and fore to work, I wear jeans + Weise jacket, gloves.. if its raining.. I wear proper trousers... and I have a dedicated work helmet.. as I dont care if it gets stinking dirty then..
Its less than 2 miles to work from my house.

For riding around in spare time:
if its not boiling, I wear my HG Tricky trousers, and my HG Spader jacket.. and water proof cover trousers if it decides to rain... and whatever waterproof gloves I can find! and my arai helmet

If its el'scorchio like today, I will still wear the Tricky trousers.. but wear my HG summer jacket.. I have the summer trousers... but I dont think they will stand up to much if I fall off.. plus the armour in the knees wont stay where I want it too after Ive moved it around as well... which ends up rising the bottoms out of my boots... so I get freezing cold ankles then! with my alpine star gloves,
and arai + smoked visor

I fell off once in full gear at 40.. If I were wearing bugger all.. I wouldnt be talking much right now...

So I will wear full gear whenever possible.. exception being work, where its very inconvenient to put bike trousers on
