On an 03, it's pretty straightforward- more or less a straight swap for any Y-onwards 750 or K1- thou. Some finagling with yokes is all. Some work betetr than others, but once you've got a set of 50mm yokes, you can wedge loads of different front ends in. Like mine, with its SRAD yokes but K2 forks and SRAD wheel. GSXRs have really good interchangability like that...

so does that mean that i can put any forks from a gsxr 750/1000 on an 03 sv650s. as long as the forks are from a bike 2000+? also, can i ue the stock sv yokes or would i need to get a new custom yoke made. also would it be possible to get a complete gsxr front end and just change the spindle?

thanks again,

You need to use either a GSXR yoke or a custom one (well, or some other yokes but mainly GSXR). You can't drill out SV ones to take the bigger forks, they're too small.

With injected bikes, I'm not sure what the deal is with the stem... You might not need to change anything in fact. Drop Zoran a line, he'll keep you straight with that...

You can use older forks than that- SRAD 750 forks (96 onwards) are pretty much the same as Y-K2 forks apparently. But personalyl I'd rather use more recent bits just because they're more likely to be in good nick.

Use the GSXR top and bottom yokes.

Allegedly the GSXR bearings have the same external size as the SV so should fit straight in.

Haven't checked if the length of the centre stem is correct yet but it can't be to hard to work out.

I have a set of GSXR600K4 forks and yokes sitting here if you need any measurements taken.

Forks, Yokes, Calipers & Axle from a GSXR600K4 (2004).

uthaug did a complete front end swap with GSXR750K4 bits. The bearing is the same and the stem was the right length. He literally just bought a new front end, though, rather than collecting one.
