Default Dial A Phone rip off.....

Hi there. A little rant and a little warning to ya !!

Bought a mobile phone from 'Dial A Phone' with the line rental half price for the first 10 months. The way they do it is you pay the full line rental each month and claim back money at 3, 6 and 9 months.

When my 3rd month redemption came up I posted my bill off way before the deadline for the redemption. I got a letter from Dial A Phone saying I'd missed the deadline and they would not be paying my redemption of £45. I rang and argued that I had posted the bill to them well before the deadline and it must have got lost in their system, they argued back and said nothing could be done because I'd missed the deadline. So that was £45 down the drain.

So my 6th month redemption came up. This time I posted my bill to them by Special Delivery. The deadline was 18th December 2005, so I posted on the 15th Dec and they recieved it on 16th December before 06.53am. Then last week I get a call from them saying 'sorry sir, you've missed the deadline so we're not paying the £105'. I calmly asked why and he said I'd missed the deadline because my bill arrived on the 19th December, a day after the deadline. I obviously replied saying I posted it Special Delivery and the bill was delivered before 06.53 on 16th December, 2 days before the deadline. He argued and said I didn't, so I gave him the Special Delivery number which I'd kept.... just in case.... off he went and checked the number with the Post Office website. When he came back on the phone he just said 'I will see my manager later and he'll make a decision on whether we pay it'. I went mad.... there was no decision to make, I'd proved they were wrong so they had to pay me. When I told him if I didn't get paid MY redemption I would be seeing my solicitor. He didn't say anything, no apology, nothing and just said they'd be in touch and hung up.

Anyway, later that day I got an email saying a cheque will be paid soon.... we'll see.....

So be warned !! And if the same has happened to you let me know, we could maybe take this further.

Ash

I have have a similar deal with the link but I made sure I sent the claim recorded so I could prove when it arrived.

I don't have anything with them.

Why's it £45 down the drain? Add it to your claim. I bet they haven't got detailed records of when each customer's letter arrives. If they went to check the Royal Mail website for the special delivery then that does suggest that they don't keep records. So how can they say that they didn't receive it? Personally, I'd have a pop.
