You'll want to spray with a suitable protective paint afterwards or coat them to prevent rusting... I'm chopping up a subframe to remove unwanted bits, of which there are quite a few- though I'll be leaving the rails, they're quite handy. I use the RHS one for luggage and the left has the shock reservoir bolted to it

A straight subframe can be had for under £40, usually, so if it does affect value it'd be simple to change it back.

You dont have to remove them for a high level, only the Renegade underseat kit. However, an angle grinder is the tool to use, then a coat in hammerite should be the job

Quiff, I had great satisfaction in hacking my subframe up.

What did you intend to do for an undertray afterwards? It leaves two huge ugly holes in the underside of the tail, be that standard plastic shovel or even an aftermarket tidy jobbie.

I made a template and cut a sheet out. It runs from the tail light right down to the battery box/crud flap. Much slimmer and cleaner looking now. Even better load space under the seats as I hacked all but the battery holder from the black plastic. Room for a pair of trainers, tools, lube, waterproof trousers. Ace!

Only downside is when I wanted to carry a tailpack, it was quite hard to strap it down and not have it slipping backwards or side to side. I'm going to add four M8 bolts to the underside for hooking onto in future.

Like so....

however I will need to peruse it a bit more-- dont want to act in haste and repent at leisure... maybe I havent had a ood enough look (need to se how these holes would be and where) before I get my big boys toys out !!
