i know its possible with the right amount of time/money, but i was wondering what the actual dimensions and mounting positions were. i can fabricate so that isnt an issue, just looking to see how big of an undertaking it will be to do this and do it correctly without significantly altering the geometry of the bike and its handling characteristics. im new to Kx terminology, i have a 2001 650s, id like to go to the 1000 to get that little bump in power but have my affections for my current bike (plus i can get the motor, computer, and harness very cheap from a wrecking yard close by) and also switch to fuel injection.
all help is greatly appreciated. -Ken |

Loads of fabrication/cutting etc involved. IMO not worth it even for just the fun of doing it ![]() Cheers Ben |

you're effectively talking about building a TLS, the motor is wider on both the heads and bottom end, a lot heavier to, so it's not just fabricating mounts, you'd have to cut away the SV frame
![]() Although I've looked at a couple of Ducati 916 style / TL engine transplants, I think the work involved would be far to costly, you'd do better selling up and getting a TL. Cheers Mark.

Is the SV1000S not the same frame but with bigger engine then?

The TLs engine is bigger but has narrower mounts so will fit "in" the frame, will still need a lot of work including some to the tank as the cylinder offset is the opposite on the TL than the SV.
Pipework issues also. Frame cutting/mounts. Ste

imo!
go for it! seen one in streetfighters mag and i rekon if money wernt an issue id do it straight away! curvy sv looks best and with a 1000 engine in it would be even better. though you will have to cut the frame and make new engine mounts...a lot of work! but who else has one? ok one that i know of! but still wont be the same old rubbish you see on the roads now! " oooo i have the new gsxr 1000"...."yeah mate...well done...so do a thousand others!" individuality rules! be a leader! not a follower! |
