Been there four months ago.
Time for an IL4. It only feels weak on straights though. On tight and twisty roads its quick enough. I just found it had no real go left in it once you get to 70 or 80. I'd swear my 636 does 80 to 140 minutes quicker than the SV does 80 to 100. |

dont you find around 80-90ish the usable power has gone? i love the sv @ 50-60-70 mark i find it really usable but after that the torque has gone

I think that is why I got a thou,
although I probably never rode the 650 to its full potential. I havent been anywhere near the SV1000 limits ![]() |

Yeah I got slammed for saying it in a thread a while ago but the roll on from 70 or 80 is no better than a heck of a lot of cars these days. Ok not your 1.6 Focus type things but a lot of the 200bhp or greater hot hatches or these Evo's and Imprezas which chavs can pick up for under £10k now. Cars like that are two a penny around my way.
You open the throttle at those speeds and you can feel it straining against the wind. Slamming the throttle open at 80 in 2nd gear on my 636 gives pretty similar acceleration to the SV in 1st gear launching off the traffic lights with the front wheel barely touching the ground. Soul destroying to any wide boys in their performance cars that have been tailgating you down a dual carriageway. But then I find myself not wanting to ride my bike for fear of my licence. The SV will get you points, quicker bikes will get you outright and lengthy bans. You have to ask why you would want more than the SV and what your motivations are. |
