Default Sexy-fying my new K5 sv650s

Hi,

I have just purchased my new (although it is a K5 model) sv650s and I was hoping that some of you enlightened people would be able to offer me your advice and opinions on what parts / mods to get.

I've had two bikes before this one but never attempted to modify them in any way. Just so you know, in case anything I ask seems like a stupid question!

I'd quite like to get a belly pan, seat cowel and rear hugger to start with, just wondering whether it's worthwhile getting the official Suzuki ones or are the 3rd party ones just as good?

Also, my sv is the bright red one and it seems hard to get K5 accessories in red?!! Would the K6 parts fit mine or has the bike changed somehow?

Would I be able to fit these parts myself without trouble? (please bear in mind i'm a 23 year old male and about the only thing i've ever modyfied is my haircut, and it didn't go too well!!)

I'm sorry if this has been answered before, but I did have a look through the forums earlier and couldn't seem to find much about it.

Any information will no doubt be new to me!

OEM Suzuki stuff is good but expensive.

I think the K6 red is different to K5, less metallic but I can't be sure.

I had the dealer fit my hugger and belly pan when I bought the bike new. The seat cowl I fitted myself and was very easy.

Oh, welcome to the forum.

Thanks Lawman,

I didn't realise the sv650 was such a popular bike until I found this forum! Glad I made the decision to get mine though, loving the bike and impressed by the site.

I've just been reading about the skidmarx bellypan. People seem to be saying good things about it. Would this be cheaper or dearer / easier or harder to fit than the Suzuki one?

Yeah it is a different colour to the K6, (I've got a k5, the best model :P) its metallic whereas the k6 is just flat red.

The colour code for pearl crystal red is YU7. Get a suzuki seat cowl because its only 42, get an aftermarket hugger, the belly pan depends on what look you want and if you're a cheapskate.

Good luck with the bike.

Default SV650S

Hi, I too have just purchased the SV650S in red SK5. Great bike just added R&G crash protectors to it yesterday. Bought paddock stands as well.

Will have to save up for a while before I can add anything else!

Good to know the paint is metallic rather than just a flat red (SK6) is that the only difference?

To be honest I thought I was getting a SK6?? has the dealer pulled a fast one?

thanks

Dave

If he definitely told you it was a K6 model and it's definitely a K5 then yes. There's no difference apart from colours and the K5's are nicer colours IMO.

Default k6 or k5

Yes I'm sure the dealer has pulled a fast one. He never mentioned it was last years. The bike was discounted from 4600 to 4000, just the red.

Now I see what he was doing its last years colour. Still the bike is registered from now, I got a discount, and the red sounds better.

Can't really add much. Except that a few people have fitted a Poly26 bellypan. Which I personally think looks really good. Perhaps even better than the Suzuki OEM one does. However IIRC they are a french company and you'll have to import one.

the style icon that is Dr Rich had one on his SV which I personally thought looked great.
