Yeh I know what you mean. Unfortunately I don't know what they are called either.
But you don't want to use these for crash bungs. Although the type of bungs that fit to these standard J pieces are a lot cheaper, the J piece is weak and will easily bend if you come off. As it bends it will crack your fairing. The only real option I found was the R & G crash bungs. They come with a sold metal block which fits behind your fairing using two bolts which go right through the engine. The actual bung then bolts on to this. This is a hell of a lot stronger and will help to save your fairing. I had an off a wee while ago, quite high speed. The bike scrapped along its side, the bung and bung bolt were bent to buggary, but the metal block was fine and the fairing was not cracked. It only had scratches, which are a lot cheaper to respray than buying a whole new set of fairings. |

Ahh thats very unlucky mate. Same thing happened to me. I am getting one lower fairing, nose section, tail piece, mudguard and cowl resprayed for about £200. The R&G's are the dogs danglies. Bit more expensive but deffo worth it. I got mine for about £90 off ebay (they dont come up often) Think they go for about £100 from R&G's website. They look the same from the outside as any other crash bung. Only they are a lot stronger
![]() The metal block is totally concealed behind the fairing with two bolts which go right through the engine to the bung on the other side. The bung then screws into this metal block after you put the fairing back on. Hope this helps and you get your bike sorted asap ![]() |
