Right folks, this is a rallying cry to help future bikers in Scotland.....
Apparently there is a demo ride today (according to the BBC), but the news item has since been removed from the News website & mobile version too.... 17/07/07 - Moray Test Centre The DSA intend reducing the number of Test Centres in the UK, with the introduction of Multi Purpose Test Centres. This affects not just the Moray area but all areas of Scotland and the UK as a whole. The Moray area is a local government region in its own right and deserves the existing centre to remain and be developed into a MPTC. We would encourage people from all regions of the UK to campaign for common sense to prevail and for these closures not to take place. Road Safety is a major issue, and local training is a vital component in this. http://petitions.pm.gov.uk/moray-bike-test/ Both Quedos and myself sat our tests at Elgin and we have some friends who are lined up to do the same in the near future, Is this another step to run bikes off the road? Thanks, Garry ![]() |

Where's the nearest MPTC to be? I'm not against the concept, but they've got to be accessible... Signed up.

No, I don't think so. Up till now the only thing you needed for a test centre was a shop front, preferably somewhere crappy like Riddrie or Balornock, but the MPTC needs land and that's a whole different kettle.
Bottom line is they cost more money so there'll be fewer of them. The design intent isn't to force bikes off the road, that's just a happy side effect for the Eurocrats. |

IMHO.... They need to be carefull with these sort of actions, If they make it more difficult for peeps to get access to test centres then the peeps will forego the test and ride without licences

October 2008 i believe is when this WONDEFUL new system goes ahead!
I think thers only going to be 7 centers available throughout the WHOLE UK... ONE in scotland and i think thats was to be around the glasgow area... (this is what i remember reading..might be wrong...i hope it is!!!) So if this is not a ploy to get bikes off the road i do not know what is!!! I feel sorry for all the bike instructors companys out there that are gona get put out a job thanks to this wonderfull government we have put in power! |

Hello fello sv owners,
New to this site and it is good to see that people down south scotland r wanting to join in the fight to keep biking alive through out the whole of scotland. If i remember right there is to be another demo planned for april next year (don't quote me on that) but it will be good if we could gather up alot of support in the help of keeping the test open. Cheers Ginger-(sv)ninja P.s. hope to c some of u come to the next demo ![]() ![]() |
