Can't give you directions myself, but go to Google Maps and search for "cat and fiddle, uk" - it brings it up straightaway. (I would have posted a link with the serach already done but google doesn't seem to allow it

Hey,
Its the A537 from Buxton to Macclesfield. One of the best roads IMHO but never been inside the pub. HTH |

Yeah they still use helicopters but not seen any yet this year. I bet they'll be out this bank holiday weekend. They've started looking over long hill and the A6 to Bakewell. Best be careful or wait till a weekday!

I was there yesterday and there was a police bike pulling people over about a mile away from the pub. I had never been there before and was worried that it would be really clicky but it wasn't at all. Everyone was really genuine and friendly and it wasn't full of posers on R1 and Fireblades but loads of "real world" bikes too. I saw quite a few Bandits and Fazers etc. Even a couple of RD 400 strokers. Definately going back in near future!

Can't imagine you'll be on your own...
But be careful. I LOVED that road, but could see where people have had accidents by being balloons on it

Its not a bad road at all, the problem is that too many cars/buses/trucks etc use it.
If you are leaving Macclesfield and heading over the Cat and Fiddle to Buxton you might want to try a few other nearby roads. As you pass the pub and the road straightens, you will see in the distance a junction of to the right. Take that road if you fancy a challenge it will bring you out on the road to Leek/Ashbourne. Follow that road to Matlock and Chesterfield. ![]() |

You could also try "Long Hill" from Whaley Bridge to Buxton
![]() In fact, why not do: Long Hill (Whaley to Buxton) Cat 'n' fiddle (Buxton to Macc) "Over the Tops" (Macc to Whaley via Kettleshulme) That's Jabba country, but never done it on a bike ![]() |
