Oops, sorry, should be first gear.

On my road SV650 that will only work in first gear.

Suspect on my downgeared, 71.8hp race SV it would work fine in second as well.

As my post above, I've managed a power wheelie in 6th. It does depend a lot on the road surface though. Clutch wheelies have only been done in first.

Bit of a brown trouser moment when the bike decided the front was full of helium and continued to power wheelie for a few hundred yards Big grin on my chops afterwards though.
I am not worthy!

lol i did exactly the same thing last night... boyracer zoomed off.. mrs tapped me to go faster... because i was just pulling off slowly in first I probably had 5000rpm when i flicked the throttle open. front end came up, she screamed. i didnt shut the throttle quickly just eased off and the front end came back down.

she too was grinning her head off when we got to the shops... imagine boy racer, window down, then some nutter goes flying past on one wheel with bird on back screaming, waving one arm about

won't be doing that again though

You can lift an SV650S in second, but you will need to bounce it and yank. or just pop it a little then pop it again. Like a double clutch.

I can't bring mine up in one movement in second because it just spins the wheel.

But it is handy for going onto motorways with. The looks you get from people are you mrege down the sliproad on one wheel. Classic.

G: What you up to tomorrow night? May be able to meet up and have a little play. That road in the vid looks ace for it. What's the plod presence like though?

lol i did this the other day too, glad i'm not the only one.

i'd like to do decent wheelies one day but for now i'm happy being able to ride out the accidental ones!

G: To comment on this engine comment. Take it for about a mile and you have problems. Take it a few hundred feet and you're cool provided your engine oil is decent. (Trust me on this, second engine here)

I wouldn't recommend overfilling too much or you get oil in the airbox and it smokes like a *******. You might be lucky though.

Afraid I'm a bit busy this week.

Can only really use that road on Sunday's as it's pretty busy after work .

Haven't had any police turn up the times I've been; one side a train line and the other an industrial estate.

May be up that way Sunday, but I'm expecting a big hangover at the moment .

Try this....

Stick it in second
Dial in about 4500rpm (bike should be sitting at 20-25mph)
compress forks by pushing forward a bit
as you lean back dump clutch and give it a fist full
when it starts rising just lower then revs a touch and it will still lift but slower
try and find your balance point

you'll hold the wheelie longer and it's easier to balance as the revs are slightly lower.

Not by any means an expert but i'm getting better at em .

How to wheelie a Virago 125. First, be in neutral, and forget. Second, rev to the redline. Third, bang it into first. Fourth, wet self.
