What? That sort of creativity doesn't come cheap you know. And then there's the little wire to connect the phone to the computer, the overheads are endless. (OYB, this guy's got 748 money, bump the price...) |

Guys guys guys - I didn't dislike my SV at all. Tiger...I don't have a ducati (yet). Maybe I should have bought one rather than the sv - who knows? Thought you guys would be more interested in how the 748 was.... ,...well I'll tell you anyway. Quality of finish might not be as nice as the sv(orangepeel paintwork) but it beats it hands down as a riding machine. Its a bit uncomfy after a while BUT as smooth as butter round town and out on the twisties. You can actually use 1st, 2nd & 3rd without clutching round corners (unlike the sv - infact it's very IL4 like in town) There's adjustment for just about every control on the bike. Shifting is nice. Back brake...you'd be as well using the heel of your boots. Gutless below 5k but that's a good thing for round town IMO. There's none of the snatchy throttle like on the SV either - kinder on my wrists. 6k - something very nice happens. BUT the perception of speed seems much less tha say the cbr or sv. Straight line acceleration isn't that exciting to be honest. Round the bends - very deceiving and again doesn't "feel" that fast - until you look down. The real excitement for me was the lean angles - really crazy. Scraped my toe sliders 3 times (which is as many times as I did all last year on the road). Colin - I'd avoid the 748 - it might be a bit much like a cbr for your tastes ![]() |

You know exactly what I mean Northy...it was just phrased badly...
This isn't aimed at you Northy but why do I feel like because I now have a cbr everyone has to pick holes in everything I write? I had an sv - now I've got a cbr. Beginning to think twice about posting anything now. Last edited by stuartyboy; 27-02-07 at 08:57 PM. |

I reckon you must have had something wrong with the thottle on your SV! Anybody else agree?
You were talking on Sunday about forks diving and jumping coming on and off the "snatchy" throttle and having to use the clutch to smooth it out. Honestly, no kidding now, that doesn't ring a bell, hence Northwinds confusion. I only use the clutch in 1st gear really slow manueuvres like a right turn into a side street or a U-Turn. A jumpy throttle is a bit of an SV characteristic, but only if you've come straight off a different bike and once you get accustomed to it, roll on/off gently, etc, (takes about 100 miles!) you shouldn't have been having those kind of problems. Compared to some FI bikes fuelling on the pointy SV is pretty good. Pity its gone 'cos I wouldn't have minded riding it to find out if it felt normal. Maybe thats why you were getting sore wrists! From what you were saying about the doctor videoing you while the SV dived jumped around it doesn't sound right. Have you still got the video? Take it your not planning to buy a 748 then, you don't sound all that enthusiastic. I'd only buy a Ducati if I could afford a second bike for dry miles only, and then it'd be a 916 or 996. An older RSV Mille R or a newer Factory however, now thats a different prospect! Think I'd still buy a old hack as well though and keep the 'Prilia dry and tidy! That'd be me then! Don't worry, got bored of it now! CBR jokes are over, everyone knows its a good bike, most Honda's are. I actually secretly want ride on it for nostalgia's sake. What sorry? No.. I never said anything like that!

![]() Snatchy throttle honestly doesn't ring a bell, and we don't disbelieve that yours was like that, which is why I reckon yours wasn't right. Last edited by -Ralph-; 27-02-07 at 09:50 PM. |

OK....should have read "unlike MY sv". I already said it was phrased badly.
"you don't sound all that enthusiastic" quite the opposite" Compared to the SV I loved it. It was a lot smoother than I thought it would be. I thought I got that accross. "But here, not being funny but you and Jimmy actually started it this time " Started what? I originally posted a pc of my new bike because I was dead chuffed. I dont think I started anything or meant to antagonise anyone at all. I think it's unfair to say Jimmy started anything - at all - he didn't - and I don't understand where you got that. This is emphasises my point - things picked out and it's frustrating. It's poor form when conversations get turned into a them and us simply because I changed my bike. feel like an outcast. If you were there on sunday you would have heard my reasons, expressions, tone of voice etc.etc... I came on here for to meet bikers, go on rideouts, learn and share experiences etc. I didn't come on here to defend everything I say - which is all I seem to be doing recently. I said to Tiger on Sunday when I'm serious you'll know because I don't hold back. I just cannae feckin win... Password changed, login email changed so I can only read and not post now! |
