Hi y'all,
Just wanted to post my experience with Motrax "Flash-it" solid state turn signal relays. http://www.motrax.co.uk I recently replaced all the turn signals on my K6 with LED lamps. I got a blink rate that was darn near an epileptic fit inducing strobe. I tried ballasting down the turn signal circuit and got a fast blink. I didn't care for the idea of installing 20watts worth of ballast resistors in the circuit, so I started looking for a 12volt solid state relay. Ended up using the "Flash-it" and I'm quite pleased with the results. The blink rate is back to normal without the use of any ballast resistors in the circuit. They don't make a Suzuki specific relay (with the combined flash relay/sidestand relay/diodes) but installing the universal fit one was pretty easy. I removed terminals F (light blue) and G (brown) from the relay socket on the bike, then soldered the SSR directly to the wires. Black wire from the SSR to the light blue wire in the harness, red wire on the SSR to the brown wire in the harness. Piece of cake. Normal blink rates, minimal load on the electrical system. ![]() |

Excellent. I think I may go and get one of these this afternoon as I cant seem to get my indicators to slow down.

Where are these wire???
I'm gonna be going led very soon but don't know the best way to slow down the blink rate, or for that matter, where to make any connections! Plase help. P.S. Where do the universal relays wire in? Last edited by phil24_7; 17-03-07 at 12:24 AM. |

The original relay unit is sat next to the fuse panel on the rear tray. It has 7 wires going into it. You can remove individual connectors from the terminal block using a thin instrument such as a tweezer leg. The wires from the motrax relay are thick and will slot straight into these connectors and provide a tight fit. You could possibly get away with not soldering (I didn't bother). Just be sure to use insulation tape on the connectors when you're finished so they don't short.

Have finally got around to fitting this and it works perfectly. No wiring instructions in the box so these were very handy.
I have pushed the wires into the terminal on the wire and soldered them. If I ever need to reverse the operation I should be able to do it. |

Just to add, I've just done this on a curvy SV. The wiring was different colours than described here. I pushed out the two wires from the multi relay socket. Light blue which goes onto the Black of the new relay and the other was Orange with a green stripe, this goes to the red on the relay.
For reference I picked up one of the relays you can find in Halfords on their limited bike shelf. I just removed the connectors from the Kawasaki connector terminal. The Suzuki ones pushed in nicely and the I just tapped them up afterwards. Job done ![]() |

Yes, it will work for yours as well. The whole point of using a solid state flasher module is that it does not need a specific load on it to control the flash rate...it works with any combination of regular and LED bulbs. I've got eight turn signal bulbs at this point. Front and rear are LED, two in the instrument panel, with an extra pair of amber regular bulbs in place of the front marker lamps next to the headlights. (The flush mounted LED front turn signals were not very visible from the front of the bike, hence the extra pair.)

Just be aware that the fast blink rate is intentional, it shows when a bulb has failed. All relays could be made without that if it was so desired.
The idea is that LED's will last as long as the vehicle, so you don't need to alert for failures. Using a fixed rate relay with bulbs could mean you won't notice a failed bulb. Just be aware................ |
