I bought this utterly awesome tent pack from halfords yesterday... seriously thinking about coming along but a: being in Essex, I don't want to come into london (would want to meet up with the main group somewhere on the motorway), b: tent pack is a big backpack and I won't be used to riding with it so I may not want to go fast or may not want to do twisties or may actually barely notice it's there and be fine...

The upshot being I'm unsure about going because I'm chicken...

Any words of sage advice (molly coddling) for a yellow-belly?

I am riding down from Norwich to the Ace - meeting Bear (who I have never met!) and staying at his the night so I can start with everyone else - why dont you do something like that Ping? I could ride into Essex and meet you on the Thursday and we could ride into London together? Just a thought...

1) Strap tent pack to pillion seat instead of you.

2) Do this tonight/at the weekend to see how it fits, if it does, go for a short trip to see how it handles.

3) Repeat 2, but for further.

4) Come to AR07

David

Yeh stop being such a wuss ya yellow belly!!

You wont notice it when youre over about 30/40mph. Its onlly when you ned to slow to filter that it may upset your slow spped handling.
Also we all hope that we can dump our gear in some kind souls car/van to carry up for us.
And why the heck dont you wanna come into town to meet us then? Brekkie at the Ace n all that is part of the journey and i guess at that sort of time in the morning the roads should be pretty empty and it'll take you no time at all.

Or you could find a kind soul in London who will let you crash at theirs the night before like Skip has done with Bear.
hth

And the Iron fist of Ping has a weak spot? Dont let that get around will you. Most peeps fear you and if they knew of the chink in the armour, well it dont bear thinking about.

Aww, now that there's what I call a good molly coddle, cheers dude. Thing is, I know what riding in London's like (I commuted into town to work for one summer and got fed up with people trying to knock me off. ), so I'd rather avoid it if at all possible, which it is.

Maybe I'll wait at a service station somewhere on the motorway until I see a group of sv's go past...

Soulkiss - Good idea, not sure about the strapping to the pillion seat tho... It's a damn tall rucksack...

Spidey - I may have soft spots but I've still got the sharp edges that most should still worry about...

I am going to be heading into London late - like 9:00pm-ish so hopefully the traffic on the North Circular wont be as bad... (he says not knowing at all! )

I was tempted by the "service station wait" idea - but as was pointed out, you could be waiting a long time and either missed us go past or we are really late and you have no idea whether we are going past or not! Go onnn, come into London with me...

There's this new fangled techernolurgy... it's called 'the mobile phone'... you can actually talk to people on it and not need to be connected to a cable... AND you can send text based messages like "We're leaving now, be approx 30 mins", etc...

Whaddya think?
