I dont think from reading the first post, that this person was intending to do it, just trying to work out what the bike might feel like when full power ?

Basically it'll have more top end perhaps 15 - 20mph more maybe a little more and it'll get there quicker. The bike wont run out of go at 90 ish mph ( on a track obviously )

Moofie - This is a bit of a touchy subject on the forum as we get alot of riders in your position who think its OK to de-restrict their bikes and ride around on a full power bike when they dont have a license to. If you have a search for previous threads you'll see its all been covered before and its got rather heated at times.
So, would it feel any different when setting off?

Sorry I started this thread now

I don't even know what the "bit" is or where it goes, never mind actually unrestricting it.

It might do, maybe it'll pull up throgh the gears a bit harder. But TBH I dont know as I've never ridden a 33bhp SV.

If that's the effect you're after, IMO, you'd be much much better changing the sprockets on the bike. Either up some teeth on the back, or drop some off the front. Each tooth on the front is worth two on the back.

Do both & you'll have a certified wheelie machine!!

Dont be sorry about starting it.

Ok so I was a little harsh, but I see this same thread started by different people about once a month.

"To unrestrict or not.." - Implies that you are looking for advice on riding illegally or not.

There was a thread a few weeks ago where someone asked what the difference is between restricted and un-restricted, which may have been what you meant to ask.

I cannot advise on that - I got my licence pre-derestricted (old git on a DAS stylee), but seeing Plowsie (who is not a little bloke) on the ride-out, then the information about SV's being "happy" to be restricted seems to bear out.

Sorry if I offended, and dont hesitate to ask questions.

I'm not after any effects, I was just wondering how much of a difference it would make...since I don't go really fast on it.

I am tempted to try wheelie school though

I suppose I was asking that, but more on a "would you do it" basis, if ya get me.

I am being teased about taking the restriction off, but to be perfectly honest...I scare myself on a daily basis with the restriction on...I am definitely not ready to take it off.

On the "would you do it" basis" my 1st comment still stands - why bother actually getting a license in the 1st place if you are going to ignore its terms?

As for wheelie school - get to the point you can ride safely THEN look at your off-road showboating skills.

Be much better to spend the money on a Bikesafe or IAM course than Wheelie School

I wondered about a wheelie school, then decided to enlist in a "How to overtake over solid white lines" school and a "How to speed through villages" school.

Why waste money? Can't use the skills you gain anywhere except private roads. Not trying to be a killjoy, one of my colleagues asked me if I wanted to go to a wheelie school with him and he got the same reply. Can't see any point in it myself, just my opinion.

Police can only tell if it is not by checking the ECU (unlikley) and if its a big crash chances are its in bits anyway!

Also i have said a lot of times on here, it gets recovered home and alows you the time to change it over anyhow!

I personally dont care what you do and would be just as anoyed if a legit rider hit me as the result to my bike is the same, oh and i am fully comp so regardless of blame i can get me bike fixed or recover the costs of it being written off.

but there are plenty of threads on here about this. and people get on their soap box about it alot.

also if yo uwere to crash at 90MPH on a restricted bike doing its top whack or an unrestricted one at 90 the result will be the same= more than likley dead!!
