Default Body fat scales

How accurate are body fat scales?

I'm convinced that mine are lying to me.

Only really useful for comparing yourself from day to day. And then only if you do it at them same time and same body state. In my opinion of course. I've managed to get variations of 4% from day to day by being dehydrated, or full of food etc.

Why, how fat did they say you were?

I agree that it's important to weigh yourself at the same time of day and state of dress/undress etc.

I weighed myself quite a few times and it insisted that my body fat was around 16%. Surely that can't be right.

16 is very good, but, the scales are crap (which type are they)

best to get it checked out with the calipers

Yeah, that's not right.

Check that it's set to female and non-athlete. And it's got your correct height programmed in. If that's OK check the batteries, the readings are even dodgier when they're going flat.

That'll be the problem. Phew. I am actually about a quarter fat which is apparently healthy for a female of my age.
