gatsos are film, , truvellos are digital, , iirc, , truvellos are always capable of recording, , gatsos are film dependant and also iirc not type approved to record a vehicles speed from the rear...

if you are sure you wasnt speeding then you should be all good.

A lot of speed cameras out there are dummy cameras unable to take film. They're set up with a cheaper speed reader and a flash to scare people into going slower and it sounds like this is a particularly bad one, set way too low. Just to be sure, I'd get photos of the camera with the 40 limit visible as if it is a genuine camera and has been set too low you could end up needing the evidence in court.

Where I live there's 4 gatso's.

I contacted a Councillor a few months back to find out if they all worked and was told - after he checked with the respective department - that only 1 of the cameras is live at any one time!
