Fiz, and anyone that PM'd Fiz in secret, simply straddling a bike and venturing out on the road is dangerous/has inherent risk. We are all capable of making our own risk assessments! I consider simply being out on the road fighting my way through traffic, many times more potentially ‘dangerous’ than anything like this risk element that I’d consider introducing myself ...

As for the original post, I was careful to just make it a report on what I was doing and then a discussion about potential problems, NOT advice. It turned out that no one could actually come up with a valid reason why the repair itself suddenly made the tyre ‘highly dangerous’.

If you think about it, my repair risk assessment was only a bit like letting the tread run low/down on your tyre and still choosing to run it. Not wise, but you know the implications!!

Just my 10p!

I saw your original post, you are one silly guy blue haha but glad to see it works so far! Just for the record, I am all for the thread being allowed; it was clearly a bad idea but he only wrote it as a report rather than advice. I still like to think people have their own responsibility and free will and can make their own mind up.

But blue, when it wears and hits the *repair*, you will be straight off is my guess, just a warning or it might pull a bigger hole if it catches hehe

I don't think it will - in fact, given the counter arguments I stated in the other thread, I don't see how you arrived at that conclusion at all!! - but lets not discuss the ins and outs else we will get this thread deleted!!

Think that by now everyone will know that blue makes his own choices and backs them up with his point of view-right or wrong (in your own view) but thats his choice-i'm of the opinion that his post being removed is wrong-any normal minded(sorry blue but your not normal mate)person wouldn't repair a puncture with an "object" other than a normal plug.

Things seem to be a bit off on this forum at the moment

Entirely disagree.

This is like threads that say 'It's OK to wear jeans, I came off at 30mph and I wasn't hurt, so it must be OK.' Well maybe you didn't get hurt, but it sends the wrong message to new riders.

In this case I agree that whilst Blue is hugely experienced and no doubt knows what he's doing, others not so skilled might try to copy, with disastrous results.

BTW I didn't send a PM.

Its your opinion to entirely disagree and i respect it, but if posts are gonna be removed incase a less experienced person copies do we then start removing threads where people do wheelies etc-the thing with blues post was that he gave his side and the response from the other posts were that it was a bad idea in there opinion-i'm saying that where do you draw the line in which post to remove?

Or how about they say how they have removed their indicators/mirrors (or whatever) or put smaller/mini ones on coz it looks cool!! Should those sort of posts be removed as it has an inherent/potential danger aspect?

If people are talking about getting their kneeedown and ways to do it, KD virgins will read that and try it for themselves should that be removed?

At the end of the day my ‘repair’ method is actually only the same situation as something that every rider might come across naturally in their riding career.

It is likely at some point you will get a puncture/something in your tyre. What I suggested is no different (really) to something that might occur naturally and the rider to not realise, or even potentially never know/notice ride quite happily unawares for 1 miles or 1000+ miles!! .. when you actually think about/rationalise it, me posting what I had done wasn’t really all that bad a thing to say in the scheme of things was it!?!

I actually have a lot of respect for Fiz and unlike some others, he seems like a ‘well rounded’ person. I am sure he acted predominately at the request of others, and as a mod that is what he has to do I guess?!!?

I don’t want the original thread reinstated, but just think it is a shame the people that PMd are so close minded!
