I know this is a dull question. But what do you like & not like about the SV? There are hundreds of other bikes. If you just want something shiney then find something you like the look of and see if you can get a test ride. But if you're after constructive advice I'd want a bit more detail....

Shiney!!!
I like the SV but I bought it bog standard and got a very good deal on it from a friend. As it was my 1st bike, it was too good a deal to turn down and an ideal bike to learn on. I'm not saying I've learnt everything now, far from it because I'm still new to the roads etc but the bike wasn't my first choice. If it wasnt such a good deal then I would have taken a bit longer and picked something I really wanted. I'm thinking of just tarting the SV up but that involved spending quite a bit of money getting it how I'd like it which is why selling it and buying something else appeals So yeah, in short I guess you can say I am hunting for a nice shiny bike! I'm shallow! |

mod it
![]() edit: imo the exhaust was the best mod yet and it only took about 25 mins to fit - totally transformed the character of the bike

Thats the sensible option yeah. I've also got to think about driving lessons and getting a cheap banger for the winter cos now I'm no longer getting the train, I dont want to go back to having to but I dont fancy riding all through the winter either to be honest!
I could tart up the SV, get driving lessons and a cheap banger all for the same price as getting a new bike I guess |

hmmm nice, ok dokey:
double bubble screen from power bronze - about 50 quid beowulf stubby length exhaust - 140 quid hamicad tail tidy - 55 quid proper suzuki lowers 340 quid after haggling with redcar motorcycles r&g bungs - think they were 90 quid philips power x-treme bulbs (H4 fitment) 23.95 with a free pair of 'sidelights' (w5w fitment)... Looking at possibly getting some new rubber - avon storms estimated about 180 quid but haven't had a response from the shop yet.... possibly some new brake pads look about £30 from ebc direct website - thinking of some braided lines as fitted by yorkie chris (not looked at cost of the lines but hey ho)... then I'll probably look at a new rear shock and start messing around with sprockets... where the mods go, nobody knows!

Keep it, ride it and build your experience up and also your insurance no claims.
I know it sounds dulll, but with only 3 - 4 months riding experience ( if I read your post right ) you've still got more to come from the SV. I went from an SV to a K5 GSXR-750 and the first time I opened the throttle hard on the 750 after I had run it in, I scared the cack out of myself and that was with 2 years everyday riding experience on the SV.

Very good point there. I just worry about the amount of miles I'm putting on it. By the time I have 1 year no claims, the bike will have over 20000 miles on it and its not that attractive to potential buyers
