Hi,
I use my SV in all weather (commute to work every day) so I need a textile jacket and trousers that are warm, comfortable and most definately waterproof! Would prefer trousers to have pockets on the sides of the leg and a zip to attach jacket and both to have removable lining (for the occasional warmer day!) Anyone use/know of any kit that would do the job? I had a pair of camo textile trousers that I bought at BMF May 2007 and they were perfect (non branded, only £40!) but they've finally had it! Thanks in advance |

Whilst it's not cheap i can definitely recommend RUKKA gear (the police use it) - you'll probably end up spending £800+ unless you can swing a deal somewhere, but believe me it's worth it - it's the best textile gear I've ever had.

i use a frank thomas textile jacket, with leather trousers,
think its an aquapore, really thick with loads of pockets, armour in elbow and shoulders, thick padding for back. I'm sure its as strong as leather almost as it's so thick BUT its very very heavy especially in warm weather. |

I've got dianese textiles. Warm, very dry, pockets everywhere, armour everywhere, removeable linings, still as good as 6 years ago. I only wear it when riding billy-no-mates though, not as cool as leathers.

I can reccomend Hein Gerikie Gore-tex suits.. 5 year garantee if you get wet, they replace.
Also if you spend more than £200 (which you will if you get gore-tex), they give you a year 0% finance. woohoo |

I have a wardrobe full of gear from my AM days (inc Rukka and BMW Enduro both aclaimed) , my last purchase Ride Best Buy Weise Psycho, I must have been a Psycho I can only see me wearing them in winter, as they don't breath and I had sweat running down my legs in 14 degrees heat.
No, if I want to wear textile I always pull out my Halvarssons kit. I have the Korax jacket and Cobra trousers about £179 each (cheap for what they are..). Soft flexible outer, waterproof, hard wearing, stylish, good flexible comfy armour, loads of vents and adjustment, good thing is you can keep the liner as it regulates heat (designed for NASA astronauts) very cool when its hot and warm when it's not and worth every penny. Negatives, its black (they do other jackets) , the outer breaths so will get wet to the touch but never gets through and dries very quickly. that's it the plus's more than outway. I've got a Rev'It Ignition jacket, they go for about ?220. Have ridden in it in some horrific conditions and it's always kept me toasty and dry. Only flaw I can find with it is that the jacket sleeves are hard to get gloves under for when it's chucking it down - this despite the fact that there're stretch-panels on supposedly to aid with this. Pants-wise I got some matching Rev'It pants (I think they were Factory), also pretty good, though the knee-armour in them is oversized to the point of slight discomfort. You can pick these up for about ?100, or less if you find a sale

I have one of these http://www.forthgear.co.uk/product/Circuit_Jacket_1933
I saw it recommended in Ride mag, I also have the textile trousers which go with it. Very pleased with them, the best test I gave them was riding back from the channel ferry at Newhaven to Yeovil in an absolute monsoon last summer, I was bone dry when I got home (my hands weren't but that's cause I have hand-me-down all-weather gloves). |
