If you lose interest you lose interest. You can't force yourself to like something more, and you can't force yourself to become more motivated to stick at something your heart really isn't in.

Just stop doing it until you want to do it again, and if you never do then it will be because you've found something you'd rather do instead, which would be a good thing.

I think it's particularly important to stop motorcycling if your heart's not in it, there are safer pastimes to feel dissatisfied by.

Jayneflakes - although I'd like to have a go at trad climbing, I still have a lot of fun sport climbing, I don't feel I have done enough sport climbing to need to take the next level yet. If you came to Portaland, you can always 'trad' a bit next to my sport climb and we could race each other up*!!

*To stand a chance, I'll have to make sure your climb is significantly harder by the sounds as you are much more experienced climber than I

The break away will no doubt do you some good, if you never come back to it, you have all of those amazing memories of riding slowly through heavy traffic, trying not to get knocked off by chav scum in "sorted" Novas who want to race.

As for climbing, You could say that I am quite experienced, I have climbed in quite a few places around Europe and I have done both Rock and Ice. Ice was amazing, but scary. I can't wait until I am fit enough to hit Ice again.

I was in hospital in 2006 and I am still walking with a stick every now and again, so should we race up a Portland crag, even if You were on a 6b+ Sport and I was climbing a V-Diff trad, I am sure that you would win.

However, these days I only climb because I enjoy it. I like a route that is both aesthetically pleasing and has delicate dancing moves on it. I enjoy the feeling of moving over rock, using micro crimps lost its joy when I popped my finger tendons.

Mind you, you should see my gear wrack, I have a set of Wild Country Friends and some wicked micro stoppers... Just to make you feel safe when climbing on E numbers! I think I spent more on my climbing kit than I did on my SV... Oh the shame

The thing I like about sport climbs is that once you clip-in on your way up, you know you are safe (ok, so the permanent bolt could come out, but it is unlikely) and can take a breather ... its a great rush, being near the next clip-in point, hanging on with one hand desperately trying to clip in before you slip/fade ... and then the relief when you have clipped in and you know you are ok ... its quite a rush ... especially as you have pulled a fair bit more through just before you clip, so you know the fall is even further!! ... if I was to 'trad' then I couldn't get the same level of comfort that I am 'safe' ... i.e. if I didn't place the equipment correctly then it isn;t going to do anything! .... I think you have to be very confident that you are unlikely to fall to do trad ... personally I get the buzz through doing climbs that are slightly above my level and as I said, the relief when you clip in!! ... If I KNEW I could make it with minimal/negligible chance of a fall, it'd not be as much fun ...

Screw bikes, I wanna go climbing!!

Still confused ...

Are you saying I am awesome (unlikely) or the fact I am losing interest in bikes in some bizarre screwed up Keithd way makes me seem as if I am wanting people to say I am awesome? ... and what has this got to do with this GYKD dude??
