![]() No don't tempt fate !! I love ya Blue ![]() On the "off" note - I agree, my love of bikes has come since I have not been able to ride, and I have met so many more org'ers since I have been busted than before. Work that out. Sometimes you can have too much of a good things and you don't appreciate it until it's not there !

My love of mountainbiking overtook my love of motorcycling in 2006 and I sold my beloved SP-1 ( I kinda needed to, also, but that's a tale for another day). I was at the stage where I'd meet up up with a few buddies to go out on the 'big' bikes, but my mind would be all over the shop, spotting new trails and searching the hills and surrounding scenery for potential places to go moutainbiking. This led to me losing interest in motorbiking. Also, once I'd gotten bored with getting my knee down at every roundabout, there was really no inspiration to go out at all. It was at this point that I realised that going out half-cocked on a SP-1 was really not a very clever thing to do as the beasts require total focus at all times, just to avoid getting spat off. That was the final straw - my mate went racing 600s and I sold my VTR and resumed my neglected fitness-chasing and mountainbike racing. I remember clearly swallowing back the horrible lump in my throat as the dealer wheeled my bike onto his trailer and sped off. The roll of cash in my pocket did nothing to dispel the 'OhmyGodWHAThave Idone!!?' wave of panic that followed.
I've been away, done the other things I needed to do and now I'm back all loved up with my SV. The saying "You have to go away, first, to come back" is very relevent to me and I feel better for it. My tuppenceworth is simply: if your enthusiasm is fading, don't sweat it, just do whatever you have to because nothing really changes. 2 years down the line and MCN is still a sensationalist piece of toilet paper, tyres still wear out like they're made of putty, Hondas still hold their value and your true friends are still your friends. In short - nothing really matters except your own happiness. X |

By some of the comments in this thread, clearly you are in a minority (if not the singularity) thinking such things!!

One thing I have noticed after some time away from biking is that no-one nods anymore. When I passed my test 10 years ago my neck would be sore with all the nodding by the time I got home! Today, I saw more than a dozen bikes during my commute and not one single rider waved or nodded.
I realise this may be old news, but it surprised me today. |
