Default Tyres and grip?

Right, I've been to the edges of my rear tyre (just) on both sides. I know this was done on the left side by a certain bend that I like, which I was going round at about 65mph. The bike felt completely stable at this speed and when I got off I'd been to the edge. Before that time there was a little chuck strip.

Now my question is, in theory, in the same conditions, could I go round that same bend at 70mph or 80mph? Or would I be 'riding off the edge' of the rear?

There's no right or wrong answer; and I won't press charges for your opinions if you tell me I could go faster and it doesn't work , I just wondered if people can give me opinions based on experience and / or maths!

Cheers,
Matt

Yes probably much faster, lean off the bike more, unless you were already and this certain bend is like a hairpin hard to tell without riding it.being there.

Noted, I should have said that the knee was already down - it's not a hairpin by any means but it's reasonably tight - I think there's a sign that recommends 30 or 40 round it - but we know those can be taken with a pinch of salt!

I think a lot of it might come down to the line you take through it, too, w.r.t. speed you can get through it at.

Yeah, you can prolly go faster!! the best way to tell is when you end up in a bush, you have exceeded the limit at that point, so go a little bit slower than that next time - sorted!!!!

Without seeing the corner, the tyre, or how you are riding, it is impossible to give any more useful information that that

F### me that was a bite and a half

I reckon that you don't really like the falco, and you're just trying to justify the fact that you spent too much money on a TL-wannabe that you don't really like...

Anyway, grip...

More about how much power you're putting down that absolute lean angle, blueSV650 has a cool photo of his tyre after a race, there's still a tiny chicken strip despite the tyre being well cooked.

Crikey, this thread drifted pretty far overnight!

Greek, I'm 100% positive, definitely sure that G was yanking your chain about the Falco - we all know they're pretty damn capable machines - now kiss and make up!

Not too far actually, about 5-10mm on the left. The front tyre's pretty much vertical if you're right on the edge so I don't want to get there!

Footpegs weren't scraping though come to think of it, so I must still have some room for leaning further Must try harder!

I guess as someone said above that it would depend how fast / hard you're going because if you're going relatively slow for the arc of the corner, you could lean all the way over nice and gently, but if you're really going for it and your suspension is compressed then your pegs will be closer to the floor - possibly quite substantially.

Anyone with more knowledge / experience confirm?
