Default Do you need proper bike gear for a 50cc?

It may sound like a stupid question but here's the scenario...

Kitkats daughter is wanting to get a 50cc bike in January when she turns 16 to get to college etc etc but she's not wanting to wear full gear ie textile jacket and trousers. Quite happy to wear proper boots and gloves will wear a jacket without persuation but doesn't want to wear textile trousers as she thinks everyone at college with think she's a muppet for wearing them instead of normal jeans or draggin jeans.

What does the org think?

Oh and the reason we're looking at textiles is cos she'll be using it all year round

give her until the first day with heavy rain

draggin jeans are fine, i crashed in mine at low speeds and they're good to go again

That's our point they're fine when the weather is ok but I would think they're going to be a bit chilly to wear in January

If she will wear draggin jeans, then just waterproof overtrousers? or one of them apron things if it's a scoot. Best to compromise eh?

I doubt she'd wear the overtrousers either as they're not trendy or something

just let her find out by herself then, keep the draggin jeans for now

you can do light showers in draggins (they're heavy) but after a few days in a cold snap in january she'll want more on i'm sure

I'll be she'll change her mind after getting soaked on a few cold wet miserable winters mornings.

Draggin jeans seem like a good compromise to me.

She'll get wet once and look more stupid wet than taking off a pair of overtrousers. I used to think the same on my old 50cc, but then i prefered to be dry than wet all day so i soon changed my mind. We live an learn, tell her your 2p and let her make her own mind up!!!
