The thrill and excitement of riding comes from the actual riding and not the twist and go straight line blast, anyone can do that...

...I know this is coming from somebody with a tuned SV but the handling through the twisties is the best part!

Great choice Adam, enjoy

Been mulling over a similar decision; whether to sell my CBR600F for something more
sports focused like a GSXR-750 or CBR1000R. Problem is the CBR600F (2nd bike) is so comfortable (personal record 1100 miles in 20 hours), even more comfortable than my BMW (3rd bike selling) that's its made finding a replacement difficult.

What I'm really looking for is a bike that is comfortable for 600-1000 miles a day, can go/stop/flick like the latest 160kg ultra-sports bikes, but be a little less buzzy than a 600-4? Any Recommendations?

I can hang with GSXR750's out of the corners, into the corners, and around the corners.... thats all I need.

Exactly why an SV anything is out of the running, unless I go for the sheepskin seat option LOL.

fireblades are very fast machines indeed i wouldnt ride one too me it seems a pointless bike for the road but i can understand why people buy them for the adrenaline rush and all that just not my scene i guess the sv's about what i'll need and maybe a bandit 12 later for a bit o touring.

SL1000 with forks setup for your weight (springs etc) and a new rear shock. Itll hang with pretty much anything in the bends and wont be slow on the streights while also being comfortable with little vibration and its no IL4.

Cheers for that, I hadn't thought about the Falco, although had considered then discounted an RSV as a little too sports focused for comfortable touring. I'll have a look into it and see if I can find a good example.

Lovely that, I think they are amazing but just dont know if I could have fun on one.

Yes you can nail it to 180mph+ but that novelty wears off pretty quickly.

When your drifting/spinning the rear our of corners on a 600rr without meaning to, a 1000rr must be a nightmare.

Its one of the thing that annoyed me when going from the SV to a 600rr, on the SV I used to love nailing it out of corners without worry about anything other than where I was going, that was the fun of it. On the 600rr I have to worry about where I'm coming on the power so the rear doesnt spin up and high side me.

On a 1000rr I can only imagine that is alot worse (will reserve judgement until I can afford to test ride one when looking for my next bike though lol)

SV650 to 1000rr takes some balls though, nearly 3 times the power

Have fun
