They are painted, some of the base plastic has a dye added to it in its manufacturing process to make it a certain colour but the finished article is paint.

Thanks for all the input guys !! Its been real useful!

Cheers Stu for the pointer on the Poly26 parts - i think they are going to look great !!

I have decided that i am still going to go ahead with the paint job - to me buying all replacements parts and selling the originals could be covering something up just as much as a respray with twice as much faff!!

I'll be taking my bike down to CycleSprays at the end of the month for the first part of its extreme make over!

This will soon be followed by an Akrapovic full system and power commander ( I have readd that this may not be necessary as the SV ECU can be remapped - any advice).

I will create another post and show you all the progress - hopefully i can win you all over !!

Thanks again - and watch this space!!

no you don't need a power commander.

The Suzuki ECU can be remapped, I am sure Dangerous Dave will be along at some point to rant about Power Commanders.

Ask your local dealer if they have a "Yoshi Box" you can remap the ECU for the Akra system with that and it`s job done then for about £20

Powdercoating seems to be the way forward for the pegs too - I will arrange that with the painter!
I don't know how true it is, but I read that some manufacturers only guarantee carbon made cans for 1 year on a v-twin -due to the vibes or something?
Anyhow, I went for a black Beowulf which I think looks fab.

Nice, suits the black SV well.

I don't rant (often), I am learning to be nice remember...

The PC is OTT for the SV, all the gizmo's and gimmicks aren't even used on the SV650. A remap can be done easily by an experienced person with the right equipment. The OEM SV650 ECU has more scope in it than the SV's tuning capabilities, anybody who tells you differently tends to be a Dyno-jet stockist.
