04/05 is same length as stock sv.
1000 is also shorter.

Not necessarily. They all have different rear damping geometry and linkage. Just because it is a larger, heavier bike doesn't mean the suspension is longer

Knowing zadars usual quality of advice I'd hazard a guess he's looking at the shocks with a tape measure.

Generally speaking though, a gsxr shock would fit the same year model sv? I think I will just stick one in and see what happens! If it doesn't work then I'll take it out!

Does it matter if its dropped an inch? Affect the handling at all? As a shorty it wouldn't be a problem from that respect.

Is it the age that makes it shorter, or the fact that its 600/750?

Would a GSXR 1000 K8 shock be a worthy swap?

Would Jack Up kits (suspension links) not solve this?

As long as you lower the front to balance it all out mate you should be fine.

Cheers Dave.

I looked at dropping the front before, but the marks left on the fork stations, that show how far the fork has compressed, were nearly at the top!

I only ask about the later ones as I've found a very low miles K8 one but dont want to buy a lemon. If I'm going to buy a jack up kit I may as well try and find a low miles K4/5 one and spend a few more quid.

yes it does.your swingarm will be at different angle.you can use different length linkage to bring it back but you also changing the way ratio works.you changed starting point of linkage which changes progression.you already have progressive stock.
it is best to use shock that is same as stock.it is also best to use shock length to change ride height, not links.
