'Naked Santa-esque' chimney man in court

A MAN found naked in a supermarket chimney has pleaded not guilty to attempted burglary.
Daniel Davies, 20, of Smethurst Lane, Pemberton, Wigan, was rescued by fire fighters from the brick chimney above the Tesco Metro on Ormskirk Road, Wigan, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Police officers attending the scene had heard cries for help and fire crews had to dismantle the chimney of the two-storey Victorian building to reach him.
Wigan magistrates heard the defendant had been involved in 'naked, Santa-esque exploits'.
Davies, who is six foot two tall, pleaded not guilty to attempted burglary with intent to steal and was remanded in custody until Wednesday, October 29.
