Made a bit of progress yesterday - just struggling with the brake hose and switchgear cabling at the moment; getting it on the handlebars and looking neat.

I also tightened up the steering stem nut to haynes's specified torque (65nm) and now (without the wheel in) the steering isn't flapping about as it was (without the nut on). It doesn't feel notchy but if I put it to one side the steering doesn't swing to the other lock (although there's no wheel in the forks). Is that normal or could be having an extra couple of washers under the nut affected the pressure? Or worse...

It's the gear shift link rod- order one from robinson's for about a fiver- but beware, there's two different lengths- 150 and 175. I believe you want the shorter one for the naked bike.

Cheers mr chakraist, I'll give it a rough measure to before I order it. Will a quick google search turn up robinsons?
cheers

The set up in my pictures above are not OEM, OEM are rubber hoses.

Thats normal, you have tightened the sterring stem nut down which is pushing the bearings into the races properly.

Double check there is nothing restricting the movement, the locks stops should be able touch the frame on both sides.

You will need the part number;

150 length: 25525-19F00
175 length: 25525-05A10

Order from Robinsons using the part index, it will take 2-3 days to reach your doorstep.

Cheers dave that's fantastic.

Just been messing about with it again and the brakes aren't working properly. Now the bike flipped a few times and landed upside down, the front brake reservoir did take a knock (one of the hoses looks to have been crushed a bit near the top) but there's still fluid in it it hasn't leaked at all by the looks of it. However (the front wheels not in but they should still clamp) no matter how much I pump the front brake lever the pressure doesn't build up. The calipers have been all over as I've done the forks and steering is this likely to be air trapped in the line or something much worse?
ta guys

Double check for any leaks and that all the banjo bolts are fully tightened to 23Nm, then re-bleed the brake system.
