Now all the masses of bikers that go to the C&F will clutter up all the other nice roads in the Peaks

That's not going to work. You just stop before the second camera, turn round and do the road again. Or stop at the pub for a bit

Depends on the distance between the scamera's though cos there are a few sections where there isn't anywhere particular to stop and turnaround. And if people have to keep doing that to get a 'fast run' it's gonna put people off going and there's the result the safety brigade are looking for.

The road runs between Macc and Buxton and the article states cameras. I would assume with a budget of over £1 million there will be more than 1 set.

"A bid to spend £1,193,000 on the cameras along the scenic Cat and Fiddle route between Macclesfield and Buxton has been sent to the Department of Transport."

Quite a twisty road that kids..

The only place you're really going to break the speed limit is on the straighter parts.. Just keep the speed down there and you're laughing, it's the corners that are the fun parts anyway

Each spec camera cost £50k

Last time I was involved in a highways scheme were specs were installed during the work there was 16 cameras and it cost in total about the same price as above so £400k installation cost......thats for somewhere not set up for this kind of service like the C&F so completely new ducting and cable network.

so 16 cameras on an 8k stretch of road......1 camera per km in each direction.......the whole stretch of road will be monitored in both directions at that cost.

From the October 2008 any specs camera ordered had the capability to catch rear plates as well.

They dont have permission yet though, and I cant to the country folk being to happy about massice poles with yellow cameras on them ruining the lovely view.

As opposed to all the barriers, warning signs and road markings out there already?
