I just got an xr400 for the winter (Still fell off it though) but it done more damage to the road than the bike now i spend my icy mornings riding along the grass verge and down byways. On Monday even a taxi wouldent come and get me due to the snow but i still made it without crashing!

Not the best attitude to have Scott, just take things easy. Or go with the suggestions of a 125.

What's the (dare I suggest it) public transport like where you are?

Scott, Liz picked up this from ebay a little while ago

Honda XLR 125, she paid I think £300 for it and it was taxed and tested. OK its not fast by any means, but its going to be alot cheaper to repair than your SV is if you drop it. Wont cost you much to insure either I wouldnt have thought...

I've already passed my car theory test and started lessons so unfortunately it's too late.

I agree that it's not the best attitude to have but the season didn't start all too well with the crash I had at the start. With the roads gritted I've been lucky to do 25 mph on 60 mph roads. I just hope we get a sudden good spell to end the winter.
Public transport in non-existent where I am.

I am going to pick my new toy up tomorrow Its a minter, and is a lot cheaper on insurance than I thought... £66 on top of the lot for the rest of the year for a 20 year old with 2 years no claims Will help me in these conditions and fuel economy wise, i'm hoping to not have to fill up anymore than once a week
