1. Amazingly whilst I disagree with their use the original few speed cameras were actually in relatively sensible sites - they were, in my estimation at least, in areas where speed reduction measures, (however that be achieved), would have paid off. In the last few years especially their use and siting can only be described as cynical, so that would be under our present incumbents then. 2. You've imbued my words with a gravity the emphatically don't deserve, you're very kind of course, and I'm flattered to be considered worthy of such thoughful and well researched comment, but frankly I'm, err... not.

At the risk of sounding rude, no. Perhaps you should have another read of my post.
At no point have I stated either explicitly or tacitly that I support the use of speed cameras, if you think otherwise have another read of my previous post. To reiterate: I already stated that I didn't agree with their use, however the first few were probably in areas that were not unreasonable, as speed reduction at those sites would have been a good thing on road safety grounds however that might be achieved. I also stated that I didn't think that the one dimensional emphasis on speed was a healthy way to improve road safety.

Rob - what does it do - I mean is it just the normal cameras or does it do average speed things too?
